Report on the First Volunteer Health Camp of Ek Ek Paila

Introduction

Ek Ek Paila initiated its first volunteer health service in Chanaute Sindhupalchok district. The camp was organized in May 2015, immediately after the devastating earthquake. Without any formal institutional support or even a bank account, the program was conducted with the spontaneous participation of dedicated volunteers.

Objective

While various governmental and non-governmental organizations were focused on distributing relief materials to earthquake victims, Ek Ek Paila aimed to address the urgent need for:

  • Health treatment
  • Psychological counseling
  • Nutrition-related services

Venue

The camp was held at a local resort, serving as a temporary health facility.

Services Provided

A total of 451 patients received medical services, with 686 consultations and treatments carried out. The details are as follows:

  • Eye checkups: 169 patients
  • Dental checkups: 97 patients
  • Skin diseases: 70 patients
  • ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat): 36 patients
  • Gynecological examinations: 58 women
  • General medical consultations: 256 patients

Conclusion

The first health camp of Ek Ek Paila marked a significant step in volunteer-based healthcare service delivery. It not only provided immediate medical support during a time of crisis but also laid the foundation for the organization’s ongoing commitment to serving vulnerable communities across Nepal.
