Active Engagement During the COVID-19 Pandemic

The establishment of the Ek Ek Paila Community Health Center in Thapathali, Kathmandu, coincided with the onset of the second wave of the global COVID-19 pandemic in Nepal. At a time when the lives of people around the world were in crisis, Nepal too could not remain unaffected by the second wave of infections.

Despite the nationwide challenges posed by the pandemic, the activities of Ek Ek Paila Foundation continued without interruption. Immediately upon initiating the Community Health Center, the Foundation launched a COVID-19 Outreach Program, through which essential medicines, medical supplies, and equipment were distributed free of cost to various parts of the country.

This initiative was carried out in close coordination with Public Health Offices, Health Offices, District Hospitals, Primary Health Centers, Health Posts, Municipalities, Rural Municipalities, Local Representatives, and healthcare professionals across different districts. At a time when infection rates were rising sharply and medical supplies were urgently needed, the Foundation successfully extended its services to nearly 70 local governments in 43 districts of Nepal.

As part of this effort, the Foundation reached remote villages with essential medicines and prepared and distributed Primary Medicine Boxes, which included vital medicines and basic antibiotics.

Furthermore, during the lockdown, when access to hospitals and health institutions was severely restricted, the Foundation arranged for consultations with doctors associated with Ek Ek Paila. Medical advice and services were made available via telephone, Viber, and WhatsApp between 7–9 AM and 5–7 PM daily, ensuring that individuals continued to receive timely health support.
